About the Position

Information Systems Manager is responsible for the management, development, implementation and operation of the combined Electronic Health Record System and related Information Systems for Oncology Consultants. Provides and/or arranges for all staff training on the use of the electronic medical record (EMR), and related information systems. Manages the practices EMR in collaboration with EMR vendor. Supports all modifications related to the EMR including, but not limited to, forms, development, interface development, custom lists, protocols interface development, handouts and letters. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist in the management of the practice management system and EMR
  • Plans and executes training classes for all staff in the use of systems related to EMR
  • Database Management: Design, create, and maintain databases in cloud environments to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Power Platform: Utilize Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps to create visually compelling reports, automate processes, and build user-friendly applications.
  • Programming: Use JavaScript and Python to perform data manipulation, extraction, and transformation as needed.
  • Ongoing research and remaining current with new developments in the Health Information Technology (HIT) industry related to new or existing practice services.
  • Ensure direct employees receive compliance training and education necessary to perform their responsibilities; monitor employee performance and take necessary action for compliance issues.
  • Manage security of information systems and databases.
  • Continuously monitor and make suggestions for information system improvements.
  • Troubleshoots software and technical issues in the medical practice environment
  • Collaborate with other departments including IT and Data Analytics departments.
  • Provide leadership in the development of training programs related to EMR.
  • Manage technical staff of various backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Performs all other duties, as assigned by supervisor.

  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  

  • Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science).
  • Maintenance and creation of databases in cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in Power Platform tools, including Power BI, Power Automate, and PowerApps.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and present findings effectively.
  • Attention to detail and Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including JavaScript and Python.
  • Comfortable supporting a mixed “cloud-first” environment (Office 365, Ring Central, DocuSign, Salesforce, etc) with legacy systems (EMR, Revenue Cycle Management), leveraging technology to provide the best possible experience for our patients.
  • Experience designing and leading IS resources, budgets and return on investment analysis.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication in conjunction with training skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with all levels of internal staff and vendors.
  • Passion and experience for metrics, reporting, analytics, and accountability
  • Ability to handle multiple, concurrent priorities in a 24x7 environment
  • Strong knowledge of PC (MS Surface Tablets & Lenovo) & Mac (Macbook, iPad, iMac) mixed environments.
  • Experience with enterprise-class infrastructure and systems, including Active Directory, MDM, SSO, MFA, Cisco, Firewalls, VPN, video conferencing, hosted data center environments and Electronic Medical Record Systems

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. Computer Science)
  • Healthcare experience
  • Management experience
  • Experience with machine learning and predictive analytics.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
  • Familiarity with HL7 FHIR standard
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and its applications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal office environment. Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity is needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard. Ability to write simple correspondence. Occasional overtime may be required. Moderate stress level and moderate noise level.
